Perfectly Imperfect

Day 47

Banderitas

It wasn't really raining much that morning, but I didn't go out to walk because there were a few raindrops every now and then. Today, I concentrated more in doing my Hip Hop Abs workouts as well as do one circuit of dumbbells. I told Pipoy about feeling a bit sore because I already modified the workouts and I am exerting more effort now compared to when I started doing it, and he suggested I make variations. I am now in the process of checking what needs to be done and next week, I will start doing it.

I did two walk trips to the market (and back home) - first, sister and I bought some ingredients for lunch, then late in the afternoon, brother walked with me because he sent mom a message asking her to buy some items at the market and I told him to send mom another message to cancel it because I have moolah to buy the things needed in the kitchen. Walking back home, I got to see some banners (a not so good one at that, but oh well...) - signifying feast time is just around the corner. Well, our neighborhood doesn't celebrate the feast day of the Immaculate Conception as elaborate and lavish as we did back when I was young (late 1980s to mid 1990s), but of course there has always been some programs to commemorate the day.

Kangkong

As for my food, I had...
  • 8:54am - 10g White bread + 10g canned corned tuna + 2 cucumber slices, 10g ripe papaya
  • 12:11pm - 2/3 cup rice, 70g fried calamari rings (breaded), 1/3 of one saba (cardava) banana, 1 cup Nescafe Brown n' Creamy coffee
  • 6:49pm - 1/2 cup rice, 1/2 cup Kangkong with Oyster Sauce (no meat), 20g ripe papaya
Total Cups of Water: 12

Mom bought the Kangkong (swamp cabbage) yesterday afternoon and specifically asked me to cook a la Adobo (with soy sauce and vinegar), but because we ran out of vinegar, I just cooked it with oyster sauce. It was a bit sad that it was only I who ate the Kangkong - because Aunt Mary (one of mom's younger sisters) delivered some seafood (milkfish, oysters, sea shells, seaweeds) and she and brother ate the oysters with gusto. They were so into the oysters that they forgot I cooked mom's request from last night, but seeing them eating happily made me happy, too. Well, I don't eat oysters, so I didn't really feel left out even if I was the only one eating the Kangkong.

I had an emotional rollercoaster ride today, but for this day, I am thankful for:
  • A short chat with my friend JSP and I finally got to ask her the secret how she kept her slender figure after being overweight in high school - even if she went through pregnancy: Vegetables and Fruits.
  • Pipoy telling me, "You are far from perfection, yes... but I embrace you for who you are - good and bad sides." Awww, this is the time I melted. Ha, wish words like that can melt fats, though. Hahahaha. :)
  • Rekindling a friendship with someone whom I haven't spoken to for the longest time.
  • Sister taking over the cooking of the calamari rings after I left the kitchen following a hot oil splash that burned my finger and my eyelid.
  • Brother washing the dishes. :)

  1. So glad to see you over at THANKFUL THURSDAY today! And what great blessings you have shared! Your last one kind of made me chuckle though..."brother washing the dishes!" That was always a miracle at our house as I was the only girl with 2 older brothers. Thanks for the laugh. :)
