The Law of Attraction

Ticket to Ride

A ticket to Hanson's concert...

Gifts and Prizes from Max's Restaurant

A Samsung DVD player...

A Thule messenger bag...

An authentic Hanson merchandise...

3D/2N stay at the Alta Vista de Boracay...

A brand new Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 phablet.

What do all these have in common?
I won all of these at a raffle or a giveaway.

When I won the Boracay accommodation prize, fellow blogger friends started telling me and my siblings how lucky we are, one even rubbed my arms in hopes to get a few "lucky dust" because we were all together when I won the Thule bag. I told them it's not really luck, that even if they believe it or not, I used the law of attraction to achieve all of these.

"The Law of Attraction," which I learned from Rhonda Byrne's book "The Secret" tells that unlike magnets, the law of attraction is about like attracting like, that if we want something, all we have to do is ask, believe, and finally receive. The process is simple yet complicated, but somehow I was able to apply it in different aspects of my life and was able to share it to my siblings as well.

How I did it? As simple as asking once for it (the book strongly says to ask for one thing just once and not go "I hope I win, I hope I win, I hope I win..."), believe that I already have it (without being delusional, of course), and just wait for it to happen. It doesn't work all the time, though... and I do believe that if you doubt it just once, you compromise the alignment of the planets, like when I didn't won the iPad Mini raffle by Pancake House because at the start I already doubted it, and once told K, "I want to win the iPad Mini, but what if I win the car?" When it comes to raffles,  I just chant my name over and over in my head and at times I don't win because I sometimes chant "Jenn," when all along I wrote in "Jennifer" on the raffle stub. Hahahaha.

The purpose of me writing this one is not really to showcase the stuff I got to win, but to prove that mind is one powerful tool, of which I am now scolding myself because I can use my mind and the law of attraction to win these prizes, but I don't use it to help me lose weight!

I consulted the book again and found a few pages talking about losing weight. Excerpts from the book:

>>> To put it in basic terms, if someone is overweight, it came from thinking "fat thoughts," whether the person is aware of it or not. A person cannot think "thin thoughts" and be fat. It completely defies the law of attraction.

>>> Let go of all those limiting thoughts. Food cannot cause you to put on weight, unless you think it can.

>>> The definition of the perfect weight is the weight that feels good for you. No one else's opinion counts.

Ask
* Get clear on the weight you want to be.
* Have a picture in your mind of what you will look like when you have become that "perfect" weight.

Believe
* You must believe that the perfect weight is yours already.
* Do not contradict what you have asked for with your thoughts, words, and actions. Don't buy clothes at your current weight. Have faith and focus on the clothes you are going to buy.
* Make it your intention to look for, admire, and inwardly praise people with your idea of perfect-weight bodies.

Receive
* You must feel good about you. This is important because you cannot attract your perfect weight if you feel bad about your body now. Praise and bless every square inch of your body.
* When you eat, make sure you are entirely focused on the experience of chewing the food.

It truly is simple yet complicated, and I for one still struggle how to think "thin thoughts." It's these matters that I ache not having someone to talk to, someone to share sentiments and commentaries with, because I have to process everything all by myself. My very close friends are okay with me being overweight that they are okay whether I lose or gain weight, and while I am thankful for their acceptance and appreciation, I feel sad that they don't have an opinion to help me process everything.

What does the author mean by "think thin thoughts?" Should I think about "I will lose weight" or "I will be at 150lbs"? The universe conspire to work to our advantage they say, and I do know that and have proved it time and time again... but I am still lost as to what exact thoughts should I feed my mind and the universe.

Of course, I do acknowledge that it's not all thoughts, I have to act on it, too... and since Aunt Flo has left the building, I can start doing two challenges for myself. :)

Tighten Up Your Triceps

Hey, hey, hey!

Last week, I still was feeling sick, but come Thursday, I started feeling better. This morning, I found out I gained back the 4lbs I lost within the last two weeks, that's because I started eating more than I did when I was sick.

While uploading images from January on my Facebook page when I saw a picture of magazine page I took while attending a food trip with blogger pals. I have completely forgotten I took this picture, so let me share this now, before I forget it again. Hahaha.

This was taken from Cosmopolitan Magazine (Philippines), December 2011 issue.

Triceps has to be one of the things I need to tone, so when I saw this while flipping the pages of Cosmopolitan Magazine, I knew I had to take it home - by taking a picture of it, so I can do it when I get home. The image above was small, but if you wanna do the exercises, scroll down. :)

The Skiier.
1) Grab 3lb. weights, and stand with your feet hip-distance apart, knees bent. Lean forward about 45 degrees, holding the weights so your palms face your legs.
2) Lift both arms behind you as far as you can, palms facing up. Pause for a few seconds, then lower back to start.

That's one rep; do three sets of 10 reps.

Tricep Push-Up
1) Start up in push-up position -- abs tight, back straight, head in line with the spine. Turn your hands in so your fingertips face each other. This activates your triceps.
2) Bend your elbows forward, and lower yourself halfway to the ground.

That's one rep; do two sets of 10.

Chair Dip
1) Grip a chair with your hands about hi-width apart, fingertips facing your body. Move your butt a few inches in front of the chair, keeping your back and arms straight and your knees bent.
2) Slowly bend your elbows and lower your body slightly to the floor.

That's one rep; do three sets of 10.

Arm Twist
1) Stand with your feet wider than your hips. Hold one weight at your right side and one on your left hand, arm bent so it looks like a V.
2) Bend forward 45 degrees, rotating your torso to the right (your feet will naturally follow). At the same time, twist your left arm, and raise it behind you, palm up and elbow straight. Return to start.

That's one rep; do three sets of 10, and switch sides.

Four exercises for the triceps that would take about 6 minutes to do. Not bad, really... and since Mondays I will do exercises for the arms, I will include this in my list of exercises to do.

My sister and I will travel to La Union later this week, which means I might not be able to do exercises while I am there, but then again, that wouldn't mean I should waste the rest of the week, right? Now that I am feeling much better, it's time for me to step back on track.

I'm Still Alive!

Nearly a month of no updates here on my blog... so awful.

Well, I was really excited to get back on the course to losing weight, but my body started getting sick, for reasons I couldn't comprehend. For a while I feared I may be having diabetes because I started feeling sleepy all the time and my throat would feel dry every so often. I don't drink a lot - just a few gulps of water, but I would always walk to the kitchen to drink something because of this. My fear just eased up when my would healed so quick (our aluminum screen door bounced back and scraped my Achilles' heel). Still, the sleepy feeling and the back pains persisted.

I guess I was feeling the side effects of gaining weight.

Two Saturdays ago started a string of annoying sickness, though.

I woke up at 3am so I can travel with my sister to Makati City - I had a culinary class at 9am and me being so dumb at geography decided to travel with my sister because the building where my class will be is just walking distance from her workplace. I took a shower right after waking up and since we don't have that "hot and cold" shower, water was just freezing cold. Due to the short time to prepare we weren't able to drink coffee before leaving the house, but we did get to eat a piece of bread. It caused my tummy to become sour and halfway through our journey, I threw up. That caused me to throw up whatever food I ate since then, but not all the time. At times, even if my body wants to throw up, I'd try my best not to.

Last week, I had my monthly period, adding more discomfort, as I would have LBM every time my period, and I also felt dizziness most of the time.

This week, I had the flu. It started with joint pains, then phlegm buildup, and I still battled with the body hoping to throw up whatever food I ate. The worst day would be Tuesday - I was basically just in the bed. It gave me the time to catch up on my book reading (I am currently reading "London Bridges" by James Patterson), but I wasn't really able to eat well that day. Wednesday, I felt a little better, but still wasn't able to eat much. Thursday I felt more better, but eating pattern was still upsetting - eating breakfast at 10am, lunch at 3pm (I had three pancakes) and just three butter cookies for dinner at 8pm. For the first time, I lost appetite while sick, and it was quite scary.

Two Saturdays ago, I gained a pound - was at 211, the week after I was 210. It stayed that way until Wednesday when I realized I lost two pounds (208), and today, I lost another pound. Losing 3lbs in 5 days could be a reason to "celebrate," but I know once my appetite comes back, so will the weight I lost.

Today, as you might already know, I felt incredibly good. I didn't throw up and I had full meals, though I didn't get to eat breakfast. I still am fighting the phlegm, but I think as long as I hydrate myself well, I will be okay.

Tomorrow, I hope to get up early and walk. Just walk... I really miss walking outside in the morning - uploading pictures from Colinas Verdes a year ago made me miss the place.

Hopefully next week, I can just do something about my fitness as I will be traveling to La Union on the 25th and will stay there for 10 days, not giving me enough time to exercise.

Making a Comeback

Well hello there!

Yeah, I know, another post about why I am not updating this site... well, actually, all of my sites aren't updated regularly because life threw a curve ball and I became a little stressed about it. Last night, I tackled the issue and I am looking forward to better days.

Fun Run? NahhhWith Brother With Brother With Brother

I wasn't all lazy, actually. I did try to get back to the morning walk/jog routine, though at times I didn't get to do that because the country's been experiencing typhoons. On a positive note, I am very glad and thankful that my brother is becoming more enthusiastic about it - he'd even send me a text message early in the morning to wake me up and help me get up so we could go to Colinas Verdes to walk.

Food is a struggle, I admit. Watching a lot of DVD, thinking so much about the problems caused me to eat more than I should and I am gaining weight slowly. A funny realization, though - It's going to be August in a few day's time and it's my personal New Year again. So... I figured, it should be cool to get back on track and try to stay regardless of the struggles.

Actually, a lot of the people I know from the blogosphere are now trying to get fit and I want to join them in their journey - even if it means doing it on my own as I can't join this one group because of my location. Well, like what Mr. Pipoy told me, my focus has to be about myself, so even if I will be physically alone, I should really make myself my own companion.

Welcome me back into the journey.
Goals, plans, and stats will be posted tomorrow.
